Chaper 11

Just heard from a woman in Sand Lake that our very own Martin Reid is loosing his home to foreclosure. I know he has not had much luck in the real estate market. He got his license basically the day the market started to tank last year (Coincidence I think Not). Republican or not I feel bad for the poor guy. So if you see Martin on the street be kind and slip him a five spot if you can. I don’t think he will go buy a bottle of boons farms with it but even if he does he deserves to get a little numb after the life he has had the last few years. Don’t you think??
And if you have any further gossip feel free to drop us a line. We love to read and share about the suffering of politicians like Mr Reid. Makes the suffering of the rest of us citizens seem somehow lighter.

Whats to become of the Van Rensselaer Manor??

In an article from The Troy Record County Exec Jimino ponders aloud closing or selling the Manor. A few questions:
  1. Who would buy it if it looses Millions of dollars every year?

  2. If some one bought it how bad would the care have to be for our senior in order for them to turn a profit?

  3. Why is she bringing this up now after she submitted her budget with its $7 Million in new taxes already.

  4. Is the manor and the county residents it serves more valuable to Ms Jimino then political power? Or is she willing to put these old folks out on the street for political gain?

Just a few questions I have.

Does anyone have any others or better yet does anyone have any answers?

A new voice in Rensselaer County

This is a new place for Rensselaer County political discussion and we invite ALL participation. We can't hope to replace the inimitable but recently defunct Troy Polloi, but we'll develop our own personality over time.

We will not censor those we disagree with. But we have a definite point of view and we will challenge those we disagree with. Our goals are to contribute to a full and open discussion, to give a perspective you might not find in the media, to challenge the status quo and to have a little fun along the way.

So, what's that point of view? Let's just say that we're not fond of patronage and nepotism, or self-perpetuating machine politics or glad-handing and favoritism. Pay-to-play is definitely out. We are certainly not in favor of wasting the people's money. That said, the Republican machinery currently controls the County Executive with a currently veto-proof majority. The large and intertwined family tree that controls that operation will be our natural subject.
