Whats to become of the Van Rensselaer Manor??

In an article from The Troy Record County Exec Jimino ponders aloud closing or selling the Manor. A few questions:
  1. Who would buy it if it looses Millions of dollars every year?

  2. If some one bought it how bad would the care have to be for our senior in order for them to turn a profit?

  3. Why is she bringing this up now after she submitted her budget with its $7 Million in new taxes already.

  4. Is the manor and the county residents it serves more valuable to Ms Jimino then political power? Or is she willing to put these old folks out on the street for political gain?

Just a few questions I have.

Does anyone have any others or better yet does anyone have any answers?

  1. I think she's bluffing. Just trying to rope-a-dope the State into increasing its reimbursements. I wish her luck with that. Her budgeting expectations are a bit starry-eyed.

  2. What do you think will happen with the Sheriffs road patrol?

  3. I don’t think she has the political will to go after the Sheriff. She talks a good game and sends her goons like Bob Mirch to attack the Sheriff. In the end though if she took away Sheriff protection from the towns no amount of photo ops could get her re-elected.

  4. From what they are saying the Sheriff may be done. He most likley will face a primary within his own party.

  5. I would hope that the Dems start looking for a canidate soon for Sheriff they could of beat him before if they had one.

  6. When the heck will the Republican Party wake up and tell Casey to hit the street they need new blood and people with some guts.

  7. Well lets all hope our Republican Brothers don’t wake up before next years elections. I for one LOVE the job Casey/Mirch/Reid are doing for the Democratic party. In all seriousness I don’t see any Reps out there with the guts to stand up to Casey. Sorry for your team.

  8. There are some still out there. Just a few years ago they played a roll in winning seats in some towns and other races. They are just sitting back and waiting for the right time.

  9. Say there True Blue on Friday, Nov 14 you posted
“the Republican machinery currently controls the County Executive with a currently veto-proof majority.”

Then on Tuesday, Nov.18 you ask
“Is the manor and the county residents it serves more valuable to Ms Jimino then political power? Or is she willing to put these old folks out on the street for political gain?”

Are you saying she has the political power or that the machinery has the power and she in under the control of the majority, or does it depend on if it’s Tuesday or Friday?

    On Sunday in the Record
    Title Dems: Jimino's budget unrealistic
    Sunday, November 23, 2008 3:00 AM EST
    By Tom Caprood

    The message was:
“Democrats also recommended that the county appropriate money from both the Legislature’s Chamber Renovation Fund and cash on hand from the general fund, which Legislator W. Kevin Harrington, D-District 2, believed would eliminate the tax levy increase altogether.”

But by Monday, on the Channel 13 news at 11PM, Blue County Legislator Brian Zweig said “ we’re trying to increase the rainy day fund and the amount of fund balance we have, because we think we’re going into tough times and we want to be very conservative with respect to county finances.”

So it’s not just Tuesday or Friday, it’s Sunday and Monday too. How do you Blues keep track????

I know some might think I’m making it up so check out the Video.
